Interfaith Alliance president to visit Des Moines
Speaking at public events in Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, president of Interfaith Alliance, will be in Iowa on November 30 and December 1 to discuss the dangers our country faces as politics and religion become increasingly intertwined.
DES MOINES
Rev. Gaddy will speak at a public forum at Tifereth Israel Synagogue, 924 Polk Blvd in Des Moines on Thursday, December 1 at 7 PM. The event is free and open to the public.
REV. DR. C. WELTON GADDY
Author of over 20 books, including First Freedom First: A Citizen’s Guide to Protecting Religious Liberty and the Separation of Church and State, the Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy leads the national non-partisan grassroots and educational organization, Interfaith Alliance.
Dr. Gaddy hosts the weekly State of Belief radio program, where he explores the role of religion in the life of the nation by illustrating the vast diversity of beliefs in America, while exposing and critiquing both the political manipulation of religion for partisan purposes and the religious manipulation of government for sectarian purposes.
Dr. Gaddy provides regular commentary to the national media on issues relating to religion and politics. Some of his appearances include MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann and The Rachel Maddow Show, NBC’s Evening News and Dateline, PBS’s Religion and Ethics Newsweekly and The Newshour with Jim Lehrer, C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, ABC’s World News Tonight, and CNN’s The World Today with Wolf Blitzer.
Personally, I appreciate Welton Gaddy’s courageous leadership of the Interfaith Alliance. He continues to… give people of faith a strong voice of reason in public discussions … and the proper role of religion in the life of the nation.

Founded in 1996, the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa is a non-partisan organization working to protect both faith and freedom in Iowa. We believe it is imperative that, in a healthy democracy, respect is shown for the religious freedom and beliefs of every person and that this is best promoted by maintaining a healthy separation between church and state.
Our beliefs intersect with many issues of civic life and public policy including support of separation of church and state, strong public education, marriage equality, economic justice, and judicial independence. We promote civility as the best means to make a difference and because it matters.
