Venezuelan Jews Start Immigrating To Bogota
AJN.- Estimates show that about 30 Jewish Venezuelan families will immigrate during 2010 to Colombia. Marcos Peckel, Chairman of Bogotas Israeli Center, said to the Jewish News Agency* that a Special Committee has been established to receive Venezuelan Jews. Peckel confirmed that the Colombian Jewish community is worried about the worsening of relations with Venezuela.
Dozens of Venezuelan Jewish families started to immigrate to Colombia for conflicts with the policies of the President Hugo Chavez, but also because of the energetic and economic crisis which affects the country.
